My name is Michelle DeLong. I’m a writer, editor, producer and MFA candidate at San Diego State University.

I’m currently available for freelance work and collaboration.

I split my time between Wyoming, where I work as a commercial film producer during the summer months, and San Diego, where I am working towards my MFA in Creative Writing. I have been published by the New York Times Modern Love column and was a finalist in Nowhere Magazine’s 2020 Travel Writing contest.

My works of fiction investigate inherited relationship and worldview across the modern American West.

Creative Projects

Currently working on a hybrid collection of short stories, poetry, and flash fiction; I am interested in collaborating with visual artists on this zine-style project. Long term, I aim to publish a collection of short stories for my MFA thesis project to be completed Spring 2024.

Freelance Writing, Copywriting & Editing

I contribute food, wine, culture, and outdoor adventure articles to a variety of local publications across the Mountain West, have served as a copy editor and associate editor for biannual lifestyle magazines, and contributed copy to a wide range of businesses within the wellness and design spheres.

Production & Marketing

I produce small commercial photo and video shoots in National Parks and public lands for a Wyoming-based wellness company; I also serve as marketing director.
